Terms of service

What you are buying, what happens when it runs out, and where responsibility sits. Written to match how the software actually behaves rather than from a template, so that nothing here is a surprise later.

What Parallel is

Parallel is desktop software for Windows 10 and 11. It runs browser profiles that are isolated from one another: each has its own cookies, storage, cache and device fingerprint, and each can use its own proxy. There is no macOS or Linux version. If you buy a licence and then discover you cannot run it, that is covered by the refund policy.

Using Parallel does not require an account, but syncing profiles between computers does, and a licence is attached to an account.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your password and any API tokens to yourself. The local automation API token in particular can open, create and configure every profile on your machine, which means anything holding it can act as every account those profiles are signed into. Treat it as a password.

What an account stores, and what it cannot see, is set out in the privacy policy. In short: saved logins and cookies are encrypted so that they can be restored on your own machines and cannot be read by us.

One person or organisation per account. You may use your licence on your own computers; you may not resell it, share the key publicly, or operate it as a service for others.

Licences, and what expiry does

The free tier allows 3 profiles, indefinitely, with no card. A paid licence raises that cap to 25, 100 or 500 profiles for a fixed term of one month, six months or one year.

A licence arrives as a key, by email. It is single-use: the first account to activate it is the account it belongs to from then on. Buying a second licence while one is running extends the time rather than replacing it, and a larger cap never gets reduced by a smaller licence bought later.

Nothing auto-renews, and nothing is deleted

We do not store your card and there is no recurring charge. When a licence ends, your account and all of your data remain. Profiles above the free limit are frozen — still there, still yours, simply not launchable until you renew or reduce your profile count. We do not delete your work because a term ended.

Deleting a profile inside the app sends it to a thirty-day trash before it is removed, so an accidental deletion is recoverable.

Payment

Card payments are handled by Paddle.com Market Ltd, which acts as the merchant of record and is therefore the seller for those transactions. Paddle handles payment, invoicing and any sales tax or VAT; their buyer terms apply to the payment itself, and these terms apply to the software. Cryptocurrency payment is also available, settled directly.

Prices are shown in US dollars. If Paddle charges you in another currency, the converted amount and any fees are theirs to determine, not ours.

Acceptable use

Parallel isolates browser profiles. It does not grant permission to do anything in particular with them, and it does not change the rules of any website you visit.

You remain bound by the terms of every service you sign into. If a platform's terms permit one account per person, running several through separate profiles still breaches those terms, and the profiles being well isolated does not change that. Whether a given use is allowed is between you and that platform.

You may not use Parallel to:

What we are not responsible for

The software is provided as it is. We work hard on it and we fix what we find, but we cannot promise it is free of defects or that it will suit a particular purpose.

In particular, we cannot and do not promise any outcome on a third-party platform. Websites change how they detect and link accounts whenever they choose. A profile being isolated does not guarantee an account will not be limited, suspended or closed, and such a decision is the platform's, not ours. Buying a licence is not buying that outcome.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim connected with the software is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Changes, suspension and ending

We may change these terms. If a change materially affects a licence you have already bought, it does not apply to that licence for its remaining term.

We may suspend or end an account that is being used for anything in acceptable use above. Where we do, we will say why, and we will refund the unused part of a current licence unless the account was used for fraud.

You can close your account whenever you like, from Settings. That removes the account and everything synced to it. Profiles on your own computer are yours and are not touched by it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not take away rights you have under the law of the country you live in.
