How accounts get linked

Everything else on this site is about the browser: fingerprints, proxies, timezones, the way automation types. This one is about the part a browser cannot reach — and if your accounts are getting connected despite a clean setup, the answer is almost certainly here rather than there.

What a browser profile actually separates

Worth being precise, because the boundary is exactly where the trouble starts.

The left column is what this category of software exists for, and it matters. The right column is where most real account links are actually made.

Why platforms weigh the right column higher

It comes down to cost. A browser fingerprint is free to change — anyone can install different software this afternoon, which is exactly why a fingerprint alone is weak evidence. A bank card is not free to change. Neither is a phone number, a verified address, or a decade of posting habits.

Signals that are expensive to fake are worth more to the people scoring you. That is the whole principle, and it explains why a flawless browser setup can still lose: you optimised the cheap signal and left the expensive ones identical across every account.

The ones that actually do it

Payment methods

The strongest link there is, and the most commonly overlooked. The same card across five accounts connects them permanently and retroactively — including accounts that were never open at the same time, on machines that never shared a fingerprint. Payment processors sit across many merchants, so this can link accounts on platforms that have no other relationship with each other.

Phone numbers and recovery email

A phone number reused for verification is close behind, and worse than it looks: it links accounts even if you only ever used it once, years ago, on an account you have since abandoned. Recovery email works the same way, and plus-addressing (you+shop2@gmail.com) is not separation — it normalises to the same mailbox.

Addresses

Shipping and billing addresses cluster accounts geographically in a way no proxy affects. For anyone selling physical goods this is usually the binding constraint, and there is no technical answer to it at all.

Timing and rhythm

Five accounts that are only ever active between 9am and 6pm in one timezone, never on the same two days off, are five accounts run by one person — whatever their IPs say. This is the account-level version of the problem covered in behavioral bot detection: not any single session looking wrong, but a pattern across sessions being too consistent to be several people.

Content

The same product photos, the same description text, the same phrasing in support messages. Image hashing is cheap and platforms have run it for years. Two listings with a byte-identical photo are linked regardless of everything else you did.

What to separate, in order

If you are managing genuinely separate businesses or clients, the ordering is roughly by how expensive the signal is to fake — which is to say, how much a platform trusts it.

• Payment method — different card or account per identity. Nothing else buys as much.
• Phone and recovery email — genuinely separate, not aliases of one mailbox.
• Address where the business allows it.
• Browser identity and IP — this is what an antidetect browser gives you, and it is necessary rather than sufficient.
• Working pattern — the hardest, and the one most people never consider.

Where this software stops helping

Worth saying plainly, because the marketing in this category usually does not. Parallel gives each profile its own fingerprint, cookies, storage and proxy, and checks that the combination is internally consistent before the browser opens. That solves the left column of the table above, properly.

It does nothing about the right column. If five accounts share a card, a phone number and a posting schedule, no browser on earth keeps them apart — and any tool that suggests otherwise is selling you the cheap half of the problem as though it were the whole thing.

That is not a reason to skip the browser half. Accounts do get linked on fingerprints and shared IPs, routinely, and it is the half you can actually fix with software. It is a reason to know which problem you are solving.
